CONTINUED COMMITMENT TO PARKS & OPEN SPACE

100+ ACRES OF GREEN SPACE

Green space remains a critical piece of Ballantyne Reimagined. In 2021, Northwood converted the former golf course into Ballantyne’s Backyard community park. Ten new parks will be created, five of them the size of Romare Bearden or larger (including one 20-acre park). Northwood will create a greenway connection and Stream Park in the heart of Ballantyne behind The Ballantyne, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Charlotte.

Stream Park

The six-acre park is designed to encourage play for all ages, with outdoor rooms, activity zones, and programming that support relaxation and social connection. The park creates physical connections as well, linking the retail district to the amphitheater and Ballantyne’s nearly 20 miles of trails for walking, running, and cycling. The park will include a natural stream, expanses of lawn, gardens and places to relax and will be located behind The Ballantyne.

Greenway Connection

Northwood will create a greenway connection and bridge to the existing Lower McAlpine Greenway connecting several parks, and over 19 miles of walking paths and bike lanes within Ballantyne to the extensive south Charlotte greenway system.

Ballantyne’s Backyard

Ballantyne’s Backyard features over 100 acres of lush green space with miles of running and walking trails, rolling hills and fishing ponds the whole family can enjoy. The community park, located on the former golf course in Ballantyne, offers unparalleled open space and is accessible to everyone. Well-behaved, leashed pets are welcome.
